When I first started meditating, it was not easy to do it for more than a week. My mind was too good at convincing me to give up. If you’ve ever tried meditating in the past, I know you’ve felt my anguish.
But I kept coming back to my practice. Somewhere, deep down, I knew it was the single-best-thing I could do to take care of myself, long-term.
Alan Watts, one of my favorite philosophers, said this:

When I meditate, my mind and I are friends. When I go without meditating, my mind can be opaque and difficult to work with – just like muddy water.
